Indian-American supermodel and author Padma Lakshmi recently took to Twitter to say there is ‘no threat to Hinduism in India’ and protest ‘violence against Muslims in the country’ .
She posted the tweets in the context of recent communal clashes during and after Ram Navami.
“Sickening to see violence against Muslims celebrated in India. The widespread anti-Muslim rhetoric feeds on fear and poisons people,” she tweeted.
She also shared news articles from international publications such as The Guardian and Los Angeles Times on the Jahangirpuri clash in Delhi and the violence in the city of Khargone in Madhya Pradesh earlier this month.
Hindu friends, do not succumb to this campaign of fear. There is no threat to Hinduism in India or anywhere else. True spirituality includes no room for sowing hatred of any kind.
People of all faiths should be able to live together in peace in this vast and ancient country.

“This propaganda is dangerous and harmful because when you consider someone less than it is much easier to participate in their oppression,” she wrote.
Urging her fellow Hindus not to participate in this, she wrote:
“Dear Hindus, do not succumb to this campaign of fear. There is no threat to Hinduism in India or anywhere else.
She also asserted that “true spirituality includes no room for sowing hatred of any kind”.
“People of all faiths should be able to live together in peace in this ancient and vast land,” she also wrote.
