Most of the time, we choose foods and compose our diets based on hearsay. But this is not a smart practice. This could lead to relying on food myths and folk tales with no factual basis. In order not to fall prey to it, it is important to know what we eat and to become familiar with what could enrich our eating habits.

Kavita Devgan, Onboard Nutritionist, Tata Salt Immuno, suggests 5 dietary changes you can make that will benefit your health.

Make these 5 dietary changes right away to stay healthy:

Focus on zinc:
Zinc is a very ignored mineral, at our peril. This mineral is essential for strong immunity. It is necessary for tissue growth and repair, helps maintain optimal blood sugar balance and faster wound healing, it also helps fight respiratory infections.

Chew more cashews:
Which nut is hit the hardest? Cashew nuts of course. This is often due to the myth that it raises cholesterol. Whereas, the fact is that regular consumption of this comma-shaped kernel provides good fats, a deficiency of good fats that can be harmful to our heart health and cashew nuts help fill that gap.

Do not be afraid of the sweet potato:
Widely considered a food for weight gain, this root is shunned by many. While the truth is that it is a very effective food for relieving constipation. Thanks to the extremely high fiber content.

Target complex carbohydrates:
Constant stress, mood swings and depression are extremely common these days. It is imperative that you include complex carbohydrates in your diet to help combat them. Think brown (rice, pasta, flour, etc.), bajra, jowar, and oats.

Stop eating junk food:
Simple but effective. Have you ever noticed how you suddenly start craving something sweet right after you finish a bag of salty crisps? High sodium junk food stimulates dehydration. So junk food, junk food!

Make these minor changes to your eating habits and get ready to see major advances in your well-being!
