Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl tease a new Pokemon for Pokemon Legends: Arceus

The recently released Pokemon Shiny Diamond and Shiny Pearl games contains a possible tease on a new Pokemon variant that could appear in the upcoming Pokemon game. Earlier this month, Nintendo released Pokemon Shiny Diamond and Shiny Pearl, which faithfully recreate the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl games released 15 years ago. The new games are very similar to the originals except for a few graphics upgrades and updated features, with the storyline and NPCs fully matching the original games. Because Pokemon Shiny Diamond and Shiny Pearl are so close to the originals that any deviation from the original games is closely scrutinized for clues about the future of the Pokemon franchise.
For example, the Canalave library contains what appears to be an Easter egg linked to Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The library contains several books detailing various myths and folk tales about the Sinnoh region. All books are identical to those found in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, except for a book called Sinnoh Myths. This book has an additional story which tells the story of a small group who crossed the sea to meet a prince. Party members include a Mantyke, Buizel, and Quilfish with “huge spikes” and met the prince at a place called Seaside Hollow.
Seaside Hollow has no place in any existing Pokémon game. And while Pokémon lore notes some differences between individual Pokémon, many believe the Quilfish with huge spikes could be a tease from a Hisuian Quilfish, a regional variant of Pokémon. Several suspected leaks of Pokémon Legends: Arceus state that Quilfish will get a new regional variant in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and this new line in Pokemon Shiny Diamond and Shiny Pearl seem to support this.
It wouldn’t be the first time that a Pokémon game has teased the next game in the franchise. Pokémon X and Contained a “Strange Souvenir” item that teased the Alola region, while Pokémon Sun and Moon teased Rotom by becoming a PC box in Pokemon sword and shield.
